Report on National Awareness Seminar on “Dementia Care: World scenario and where we are.”
Alzheimer Society of Bangladesh arranged a national awareness seminar titled on “Dementia Care: world scenario and where we are “which was successfully held on 6th January, 2018, in Dhaka.
The seminar as organized was chaired by Mst. Selina Jahan Lita, Member of Parliament and Advisor, Alzheimer Society of Bangladesh & Member of the Global Parliamentary Action Group on Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
National Professor Brig. (Rtd.) Abdul Malik, President, Bangladesh Network for NCD Control and Prevention was the Chief Guest in the seminar.
Rotarian Prof. Jalal u. Ahmad ,The Past District Governor, Rotary International District 3281, Bangladesh, Mr.Md. Amiruzzaman , Consul of Seychelles in Bangladesh and Secretary General of Consular Corps in Bangladesh and Rotarian Raushan Ara Akthar, President, Rotary Club of Dhaka Rose Vale were the special guest participated in the seminar.
Speakers from home and abroad raised on the various sides and issues on the present situations on Demetias and in facing the challenges in the seminar.
Professor Hafiz T.A. Khan, Professor of Public Health at University of West London highlighted the key aspects of global dementia and the current situation in Bangladesh. He also emphasized on the importance of proper training needed for dementia carers to met this unprecedented public health challenges.
It is urgent that there should be a National Dementia Plans, bringing awarenesses, appropriate caring for dementia patients, trainings for the caregivers, and early diagnosis are badly needed at the moment.
Everybody in the seminar spoke and passed their valuable comments if dementias are met with challenges we daresay if implemented it will play a significant role by 21st century in tackling the stigma.
